Fournoi is a group of the three small islands of Fournoi, Thymaina and Samos. The biggest, Fournoi has given its name to this small group that is a beautiful hermitage for all those who prefer to avoid the cosmopolitan resorts and the crowdie beaches and want to spend their holidays at a peaceful, calm and beautiful place.
The homonymous settlement is spreading all around the scenic port of the island. A walk at the narrow paths will travel you back in time. The old well-kept houses with the traditional architecture and the small flowery yards charm with their simplicity. A picture brought out of the old black-and-white movies will light in front of your very eyes while you will be walking at the square with the big platens. Here are many traditional coffee houses where the locals are gathering and exchange their news. If you desire to talk you can sit and drink coffee and in a few minutes you will have a big company with hospitable citizens who are happy to speak for their island.
Anonthe characteristic of Fournoi is that there are no cars in the island so you can wear your comfortable shoes and walk from side to side the entire island, to breathe the clean air and improve your physical condition. The lovers of the sea will have the chance to swim at the untrodden beaches of the island. A big impression is given by the numerous voes, enclosed in the bossom of the rocks and the verdurous nature that give the impression of a private beach. There are also lacy beaches with sand or shingles and transparent waters that attract the visitors.
The most famous beach is Chrisomilia. Its leeward bay and the marvelous sand gather the biggest tourist crowds. Other beaches that you should surely visit are Petrokopio where you can see the relics of the ancient quarry, Psili Ammos, Kasidi, Kalamos, kampi and Vlychada.
On boat you can also visit the island of Thymiana with the few citizens and the picturesque fishing port and the inhabited islet of Agios Minas eastwards Fournoi Island with the beautiful beaches.
Fournoi Island is also known as a fishery due to the fact that, despite its low expanse, it has one of the most remarkable piscatorial fleet of the northeastern Aegean Sea and the that the most of its citizens are fishers.
